Conditions precedent and subsequent (CP/CS) tracker

Conditions precedent decide when money can go out. Conditions subsequent decide whether the security and paperwork are ever completed. Both tend to live in someone’s notebook. This tracker puts every condition for every loan in one place, shows what is overdue, and keeps a record of who approved each waiver.

How to use it

  1. 1Add every condition when the loan is sanctioned, not when someone remembers it.
  2. 2Release a disbursement only when all its CPs are received or formally waived.
  3. 3Record every waiver on the Waivers sheet with the approver and the authority from your DoA matrix.
  4. 4Review open and overdue CS items every week until they are closed.

A template tells people the rules. A workflow makes them happen and keeps the evidence. Averoic runs processes like this as configured workflows, with a record of who did what and when.

Sample template. Adapt it to your own policies, Board approvals and applicable regulations. It is not legal or regulatory advice. Free to use and adapt within your organisation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a condition precedent and a condition subsequent?

A condition precedent must be met before the lender disburses, such as signed documents or a board resolution. A condition subsequent must be completed within an agreed time after disbursement, such as registering a charge.

How should CP waivers be handled?

As credit decisions: approved by someone with the authority to waive, with a written reason and, where relevant, a new due date, and recorded so the decision can be shown later.
